Defence Secretary Michael Fallon announced the identities of the Royal Air Force's two P-8A Poseidon squadrons on July 13, 2017.

120 Squadron and 201 Squadron will operate nine P-8As from RAF Lossiemouth in Moray, with both units having long histories of operating maritime patrol aircraft.

The first squadron to stand up will be 120 Squadron in April 2018, with 201 Squadron following in 2021.
