The Royal Air Force took delivery of the first of eight Chinook HC.5s on March 22, 2017.

The helicopter arrived at RAF Odiham after conversion from HC.3 standard by Boeing under the Project Julius contract. The modernisation brings the older models into line with the newly delivered HC.6 aircraft.
