The first Pilatus PC-21 for the Royal Australian Air Force made it's first flight from Stans in Switzerland on the 21st of July. The aircraft wore taped over serial A54-001 and Swiss test registration HB-HWA.
It is one of a total of 49 that will eventually be operated by the RAAF and is due to be handed over RAAF East Sale in June 2017.
The aircraft are to be acquired under the AIR 5428 project and will replace the RAAF's current fleet of PC-9s and CT-4s. It is intended that the PC-9 will be fully withdrawn from service by 2019.
