A Royal Air Force Lockheed C-130J Hercules performed a successful test mission to St Helena Airport in December.
The transport flew from Ascension Island on December 18, 2016 and carried out approaches to both runways and then landed without issue on Runway 20 (from the North). The aircraft then departed back to Ascension on December 19.
The test was commissioned as part of efforts to safely bring scheduled passenger service to the newly built airport.
